Young entrepreneur turns love of tea into a successful business

While drinking copious amounts of tea over lockdown, Sienna Capra wondered why there were none that catered to the needs of teenagers and young adults. Harnessing her love of tea and passion for sustainability and health, she founded Spill The Tea Co. a producer of small batch, ethically sourced herbal teas for young people.

The Hennessy Catholic College student's motivation to run a business while still at school, led her to win an Edstart Achievement award in the Entrepreneurship category.

Selling her products across the country

Sienna has a suite of herbal teas that she blends herself, sourcing ethical ingredients from all over the world. She originally launched a website to sell her range of products but has since grown a list of stockists and wholesalers across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

Backed by the overwhelming support and encouragement from her local community in Young, Sienna also attends various markets across regional New South Wales for people to sample the herbal teas.

Growing the business

After winning the Edstart Achievement award, she has invested her $1,500 grant into a marketing campaign to drive awareness for Spill The Tea Co. and help expand her product range. She’s also been able to produce photography and videography for the website and social media, giving the business a more professional edge.

Inspiring budding entrepreneurs

Young business leaders like Sienna show that it's never too early to start taking initiative to turn a business idea into a reality. Sienna’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is, “If you’ve got the idea and the passion, go for it. Put all your energy and time into it. Sometimes you might have your doubts, but trust that it will work out in the end.”
