Having previously worked in both the childcare and banking sectors, Jessie is able to draw on her experience and knowledge as part of our specialist team looking after families at our partner schools. We took the opportunity to talk with Jessie to find out a bit more about her and the important work the team does in helping families with their school fee payments.

Tell us what you do at Edstart and what that involves

I’m a Customer Success Associate in the Family Support team, which involves supporting families with any queries about their accounts. An important part of my role is to understand the needs of parents so that we’re able to adjust and tailor their school fee payments in a way that works for them, for example when something has changed in their life that’s affecting their household budget.

What attracted you to work at Edstart?

My background includes working for the Commonwealth Bank and at childcare centres in fees and enrolment, so Edstart is a natural progression as it combines my knowledge and expertise from both into one.

Edstart also allows me to work full-time again since I have the flexibility to work from home and come into the office which makes balancing family and career much easier. The nature of the work - because I’m enjoying it so much - doesn’t make it feel like the daily grind.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

I have a husband and three kids - 11, 14 and 18 - all currently in school with one busy in the middle of doing his HSC and about to graduate from Year 12. We are a summer family and love being at the beach and outdoors. My kids also play a lot of sports so we are super busy with sports activities from February to September each year.

My interests include travelling, especially to Europe exploring the history, culture and enjoying the vibe, and interior design. We’ve actually taken on big renovation projects across the three homes we’ve lived in over the years.

Does being a parent help you with your work - if so, how?

Yes, definitely! Being a parent helps me to understand how education costs can sometimes be a worry we need to think about.

As a parent, you would do anything to ensure that you are meeting your child's needs. Having also worked in childcare centres, I see how education plays a pivotal role in shaping children from the early stages of their development.

What do you find most rewarding about your work - anything you’re most proud of?

Being able to relate to families and being able to support them in any way I can.

I am extremely proud to be working for Edstart as I can see what a difference we make to families and their schools. When you can help a family manage their school fees and are able to offer them a solution to take the burden from them, it’s priceless.
